THE UNDEAD CONUNDRUM
The notion that the deceased are gone forever has been challenged by numerous paranormal encounters and sightings over the years, shared by multiple individuals. Two such accounts warrant attention.
The first story revolves around a man who embarked on a journey to Abuja but tragically met his demise in an accident around 4 pm. However, in a astonishing turn of events, he appeared to his wife in Kogi State approximately two hours later, at 6 pm, on the same day. When the call bearing the news of his passing reached his wife's phone, the man excused himself and vanished into thin air, never to be seen again. His wife was perplexed, having just spent time with her husband moments prior. The peculiar circumstances of his visit were recounted by the wife to family members during the funeral: the room suddenly cooled, he was bleeding from under his garments, and an otherworldly odor lingered.
The second account tells the tale of a woman who drowned in a village river, only to be spotted selling akara in a neighboring village. Initially, people assumed it was a lookalike, but the distinctive family mark on her face confirmed her identity. When her brother traveled to the next village to investigate, she fled into the nearby bush upon recognizing him and was never seen again.
These enigmatic events raise questions about the nature of death and the afterlife. Do the deceased truly depart, or do they assume a new form, living among us or starting anew elsewhere? Some claim that certain individuals who have passed on have been known to remarry, have children, and establish new lives in different cities, only to vanish without a trace when recognized by acquaintances. The truth behind these phenomena remains a mystery.
